Omnilux™ Light Therapy in Washington, DC

Omnilux laser

The Omnilux Blue and Red Light devices are used for Photodynamic Therapy for Acne and Photodynamic Therapy for Actinic Keratosis. The Blue Light produces focused blue light of the 415nm, which activates a photosensitizing agent, Coproporphyrin III, found in the P. Acnes bacteria, killing the bacteria in the process. When used with Levulan (5-ALA) the Blue Light can also be used to treat Actinic Keratoses. This can also reduce the size of the pores in the area and slow overactive oil production to help improve the skin’s appearance and fight future acne outbreaks. The Omnilux Red Light produces focused light at a wavelength of 633nm. This wavelength of light has been found to stimulate cellular mechanisms for tissue repair and is frequently used in combination with the Blue Light therapy to hasten the reduction of facial acne.
