Sculptra Aesthetic in Washington, DC
What is Sculptra Aesthetic?
Sculptra (poly-l-lactic acid) is a semi-permanent tissue-stimulating filler. After injection, Sculptra stimulates the body to produce natural collagen, delivering long-lasting and natural volumizing results that last between 2-3 years.
How is Sculptra different from other fillers?
Unlike traditional Hyaluronic Acid fillers which are injected directly into certain areas of the face, Sculptra is injected evenly throughout the entire mid and lower face as well as the temples. Following injection, the PLLA particles in Sculptra stimulate the body to evenly generate new collagen in the areas injected. This new collagen leads to improved facial fullness, lifting of sagging skin, and improvement of fine lines and wrinkles, crepe skin, and hollowness associated with the normal loss of facial collagen through aging.
Why do the effects of Sculptra last longer than other fillers?
Hyaluronic fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm maintain their composition and are slowly degraded by the body after injection, typically lasting between 6-12 months. Sculptra stimulates organic collagen growth after injection. This new collagen has significantly more longevity than injected Hyaluronic Acid and is not degraded by the body over time, leading to long-lasting results.
How many treatments with Sculptra are required?
Most patients will initially require 2 treatments 2 months apart. Results are seen starting 1-2 months after treatment as the body starts to generate new collagen and maximum results are seen approximately 6 months after each treatment. Patients often return once per year for a single treatment to further improve or maintain results from Sculptra treatment.
How much downtime is associated with Sculptra Treatment?
Patients will experience mild facial fullness in the 24 hours after treatment. Many people enjoy this ‘preview period’ of the results they will see in the months to come. Mild bruising is occasionally seen but this is reduced and typically eliminated by the use of blunt-tipped microcannulas for Sculptra treatment. Makeup can be applied immediately after treatment.
